Utilizing the power of Influencers safely

In today’s digital world, there is not a day goes by where somebody isn’t trying to sell you something, it’s a cutthroat industry out there with advertisers fighting for consumer engagement. Whether that’s via TV advertising, online streaming, online shopping, social media or even these days your favourite social personality discreetly influencing your buying options via a blog or instagram post.

In fact the latter has always been one of the most successful ways to advertise, hence why adverts always pay mega bucks for Hollywood actors to pretend to drink their favourite coffee. Influencer endorsement get your brands, products or services in front of as many eyes as possible with that influencer push giving extra buying credential.

So when does social endorsement by an influencer start to become Affiliate Marketing?

Also what problems does this throw up for both the advertiser and influencer?

Have you ever wondered what ‘rendering’ is? We answer this question in this week’s show. We also announce the winner of best 29-second pitch from our awesome February networking event. Plus this week we take a look at how case studies can help a business and the team are on the road… but where are they headed? Watch to find out!

Visual Effects

Back in Episode 20, we caught up with Siobhan. As our resident visual effects artist, Siobhan talked us through the early stages of setting up any successful video effects project: storyboarding.

This week we check back in with Siobhan, who is at the final stages of another project. One of the last steps is known as rendering. This is the stage where you take the animation and focus on the little details. It can be a painstaking process, with lots of little tweaks and updates, but it’s a vital part of the process to achieve authenticity.

If you’d like to see more examples of visual effects then check out our gallery page »

29ERS Networking

This week we held another of our sell out networking events. The #29ERS were up bright and early on Tuesday morning to welcome everyone to the studio, serve up some coffee and croissants, and help people make new connections.

We kicked things off with the increasingly popular 29-second pitches, once again offering a feature on the show to the winner of best pitch.

Be sure to watch the show to find out who won!

If you’d like to come along to our next event it takes place on Wednesday 15th March, 8am – 10am. Tickets are still available but they’re going fast. The last two have sold out at least 2 weeks before the event, so make sure you book your tickets now if you want to come!

SCQF Case Study

In Episode 27 we ran a feature on some SCQF case studies that we were filming. This week the team were out and about again to record some more.

This time we headed to City of Glasgow College Riverside Campus to interview Steven. Steven recently left full-time employment and went back into education to pursue his dream career.

Case studies are a great way to provide social proof about your products or services. By using real people and real stories you can present the authenticity of your brand and build trust with customers and potential customers.

If you’d like to find out more about the benefits of leveraging social proof in your communications, check out this post »

#TRAVELOFTEN

One of our core values here at 29studios is #TRAVELOFTEN. We love to get out and about, exploring the world. So this week Production Director Pauline and Filmmaker Ellis were up in the highlands of Scotland, enjoying the sites while filming for a client.

#HELPOTHERS

Another of our values is #HELPOTHERS. We’re passionate about working with charities and contributing to good causes.

One of the charities that we’ve worked with a great deal over the years is Ocean Youth Trust Scotland. We’ve created multiple video campaigns for them, as well as creating their website. In return they’ve helped up achieve in achieving our #TRAVELOFTEN core value, taking filmmaker Ellis away to document a sailing trip to Norway in his first week!

Gillian has recently shown her continued support to OYT Scotland by joining the Board of Trustees. We were delighted to be able to offer up the Pirate Bar as a venue for their most recent meeting, where Gillian discussed planning and strategy with the other board members.

Calling All Musicians

We’re constantly looking for the best up and coming musical talent to showcase on The #29ERS Show. If you’re a musician, or you know someone who is, then get in touch. SAMH

We paid our neighbours at Cup Glasgow a visit this week. They kindly hosted a shoot with SAMH for their latest Ambassador videos that we’re creating with them.

The Scottish Association for Mental Health (or SAMH) are Scotland’s leading mental health charity. In a special video, three people shared the story of their own mental health issues in a chat with one of the charity’s ambassadors, Hardeep Singh Kohli.

We caught up with Alison Gilchrist from SAMH to discuss what the charity wanted to achieve with these videos. Alison explained that video was the best medium for the story they wanted to tell, as it’s is personal and helped others to identify better with the individuals. Video allows people to connect to a story on an emotional level that a written account cannot.

Hardeep commented how noble it was to see people sharing stories that are deeply personal with the aim of helping others who may be in a similar situation.

Xtreme Karting

Gary and Jake travelled through to Edinburgh on Monday to meet with the team at Xtreme Karting. You may recall back in Episode 32 that they won a feature on the show for best pitch at our networking event.

Well here it is!

Xtreme Karting has two karting centres in Scotland, both of which have been independently rated by Visit Scotland as 5 Star Visitor Attractions. Their centre in Falkirk is the first in Scotland to be rated 5 stars by Visit Scotland, while their Edinburgh track is the only 5 star centre in the area.

AutoRek

We’re delighted to be working with technology company AutoRek to help them attract the very best talent in Scotland and beyond. In this week’s show we throw open our doors and roll out the red carpet for the team to come and see the premier of the new video that we’ve created for them, and a preview of their careers website.

If you are familiar with 29studios then you’re probably well aware we know how to throw a good party. And our evening with AutoRek was no exception.

After the video was played there was champagne, cheers, and high-fives all round!

Another happy client!

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce

As a massive Celtic fan, it didn’t take much persuasion from Glasgow Chamber of Commerce to get Gary along to their Behind the Scenes at Celtic Football Club event.

As a strategic and platinum partner of the Chamber, we welcomed the opportunity to check in with the team and network with other businesses while touring the iconic stadium.

We’re looking forward to working with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce to make more great content throughout the year.

Beatson Foot Golf

Paul Sheerin dropped by for a visit this week. We met Paul through our work with Beatson Cancer Charity. As a survivor of cancer himself, Paul now dedicates his time to raising funds and awareness for the Beatson.

This has led him to set up Beatson Foot Golf.

What’s foot golf?

It’s like golf. Played with footballs.

Always keen to offer our support and guidance, we were ready to sign up a team to take part, and offer Paul advice on how best to promote the event online.

Be sure to follow him on Twitter and like on Facebook.

World Cancer Day 2017

World Cancer Day 2017

World Cancer Day takes place every year on 4th February, uniting the world’s population in the fight against cancer.

Everybody knows someone who has been affected by cancer. Here at 29studios cancer has touched us all in so many different ways, through our families, our friends and our colleagues, who are really more like family than colleagues.

It’s important for us to do what we can to fundraise and raise awareness for those in need of life-saving treatment and support. We are big supporters of the Beatson Cancer Charity and have taken part in many events raising money and making so new friends along the way. Many are still with us, but those who are not will never be forgotten.

It’s unbelievable, but currently 8.2 million people die from cancer worldwide every year. Of these people, 4 million people die prematurely aged 30 to 69. And this does not take into consideration the millions of people whose lives are forever changed by their battle to fight and beat cancer.

World Cancer Day is the ideal opportunity to spread the word and raise the profile of cancer in people’s minds and in the world’s media. It allows the vital organisations, who help many millions of people a year, to continue to do what they do.

You alone CAN make a difference, but together we can do so much more!

So do what you can and join the world for World Cancer Day 2017.

In this week’s show Kev O’Neil meets Kev O’Neil. Yep. You heard right!

This isn’t some freaky Friday temporal paradox or multiverse sci-fi story, though. We met while filming with Edinburgh Airport for their Christmas campaign last year and were captivated by the story he had to tell.

Also this week we meet Kev’s first mentor, Bill Ruddy, who drops by on a trip from the US to catch up and see the studio. We also welcome the Scottish Chamber of Commerce, talk strategy around an exciting new product that’s launching on Kickstarter, and go behind the scenes on the shoot of an online training solution.

How to Distribute Video Content to get Engagement

How to Distribute Video Content to get Engagement

Effective video marketing isn’t just about producing great content. While this is certainly important, a key factor that will determine what kind of engagement you get from your videos is your distribution strategy.

There’s not a universal distribution method that you can apply to your content to get engagement. Each piece of content you produce is unique, and your distribution plan needs to recognise that.

For some content, the best place will be to distribute it on your website. For other videos, you might be better off putting them on Facebook or Twitter. Perhaps your target audience is on Instagram? Or you get the most attention on Vimeo. Maybe it’s none of these!

It will depend on what the content is a what you want to get out of it.

With so many distribution channels to choose from, it’s essential that you have a distribution plan!

When devising your distribution plan, you should ask yourself the following four questions to determine where you should be placing your content.

The #29ERS Show Episode 32

Welcome to this week’s episode of The #29ERS Show. This week we had our second 29ERS Networking Event. Word must already be spreading about how great these events are, because we’re almost out of tickets for February already!

Also this week we’re inviting you to go behind the scenes of a range of projects, giving you an idea of the breadth of projects we work on. Join us for shooting on location at Autorek’s offices in Glasgow, and at City of Glasgow College for the Become charity. We’ve also got voiceover actors in the studio to record for our Wildfire Technology campaign, and we head to PMAS to provide an update on the website we’re building.

Networking

This week we hosted our second 29ERS Networking Event. Despite the early hour, we had a great turn out and just about managed to squeeze everyone into our studio on Miller Street.

Tickets for the event sold out back in December, so we’d been looking forward to the event all month!

One of the features that makes our event so unique is the 29-second pitches. We give everyone the opportunity to address the whole room, telling them who they are, who they work for, and what they do.

But they have just 29 seconds in which to do it.

The pitches have proved very popular, with most people keen to take part. They’re a great way to find out who you want to connect with quickly so that you can get the most out of the event and ensure you’re talking to the right people. It’s also a great way to practice your pitch in a friendly and supportive environment.

Oh, and the best pitch also wins a feature on the show!

Watch to find out who was the winner from this week’s event.

If you’d like to come along to the February event then check out our networking page, but be quick. We’re already running low on tickets!

Autorek

Autorek are a global technology company with their HQ in Glasgow. Specialising in financial, operational and regulatory reporting and control products, Autorek work with many leading FS companies and some of the world’s largest corporations from a range of sectors.

We’re working with Autorek on a full service recruitment campaign, comprising of a landing page, video, and promotion.

This week we were in their offices capturing footage for their video and catching up on the campaign progress.

Become

Become (formerly the Who Cares Trust) are a charity supporting young people who are care, or are recent care leavers.

We’re working with Become to create a series of case study videos that they can share with the supports to explain the work that they do.

This week we were on location at the City of Glasgow College to film some of these stories. While we were filming we took a moment to chat to Dominic Stevenson who works at Become. He explained how important video is a communication tool for charities, allowing them to talk to their supporters in a way that copy and still image alone do not.

Busibricks

This week we set the mic up in our studio to put the finishing touches to a campaign video we’ve created for Wildfire Technology. Wildfire Technology specialising in building online apps that provide real-world business solutions.

Voiceovers are a core part of video marketing, and our guide on how to record a voiceover was one the most read posts on our blog last year. Take a look »

Property Managers Association Scotland

You may recall back in Episode 22 that Kev and Gillian gave a Make Intelligent Video talk at the Property Managers Association Scotland (PMAS) annual conference. This week we catch up with PMAS on our latest project.

After presenting at the event we were approached by PMAS to work on their website.

Building the site from the ground up, we worked closely with the team before Christmas on pinning down the website’s objectives and core audiences, so that we could outline a measurement plan and content strategy. This week we went along to their offices to show them the new designs that emerged out of this ground work.

As always, we hope you’ve enjoyed the show and would love to hear your comments and feedback. Please share it with your network and we’ll see you again next week!
